What's the best choice of product?

by Gary
(England)

Hi Maria, I live in the UK and I want to know what's the best product to use on my skin.
Now, my skin has been becoming quite dark recently after using benzoyl peroxide to treat acne and blackheads. It does seem to work, but I wasn't happy about becoming darker. Being Indian, I wasn't exactly light skinned before, but now my skin is too dark for my liking.
I don't use any sunscreen lotion because I've always thought since I have darker skin it wouldn't matter.

Now the important bit, I have read through a few of your products, but I'm unsure which is best for me. I want to lighten my skin to its original tone, but I don't want to aggravate my acne/blackheads. Which product do you recommend?

Thanks
Gary

Answer:

Hi Gary, sunscreen is a MUST during a skin lightening regimen. The reason why your skin got darker is because you didn't protect it from sun exposure. Benzoyl peroxide induces skin exfoliation and fresh skin is sun sensitive, meaning if exposed to the sun can get darker than before. Choose at least SPF 45 sunscreen and wear daily at daytime, especially between 9am-4pm.

So now you've learned your lesson. :)

Skin lightening, like benzoyl peroxide, induces skin peeling or exfoliation in order to remove the dark skin layer, and in the process, removes dead skin cells, excess dirt and oils. That is why it cal also help, at some level, control acne.

In order to choose the right products for you, take a moment to read our "Quick Product Guide" (in the blue table box) on this page -

Hope my 2 cents helped. :)
