Using Licorice soap while on Acne Treatment
by John
(Perth, AUS)
Hi Maria, I've ordered a complete set (Black Licorice soap, Papaya Kojic Acid soap, Whitening cream and Lotion). I want to lighten the dark spots on my face due to acne. However, I am still being treated for acne - I am currently taking Roaccutane/Isotretinoin (20mg) twice a day. Isotretinoin makes your skin and lips very dry and as such I've been using a moisturizer morning and night + applying sunscreen when going out.
I am about to use the black licorice soap followed by the whitening cream for my face. Is the black licorice and cream safe to use now or will it make my face red and burn since my skin is already dry from the acne treatment?
With Thanks, John
Answer:
Hi John, I suggest that you complete your acne regimen as needed. Soon as your skin has healed from redness (dryness is ok) as an effect of the acne treatment, you can start with the skin lightening process.
Still, your skin will experience some redness, drying, and some stinging sensation due to skin peeling. This is necessary to peel off the unwanted dark skin layers and resurface a lighter more even toned skin. You'll also need your usual moisturizers and sunscreen (at least SPF45) while in this process to keep skin hydrated and sunscreen will take care to prevent further pigmentation.
Hope that helps. :-)
Maria
