tinea versicolor

by Patty
(Chicago)

I'm suffering from tinea versicolor for more than 8 years, I have tried all sorts of cream from skin lightning creams to antifungal creams and shampoo, my doctor has even prescribed antifungal creams for me but nothing works. Please help me.

Answer:

Hi Patty, I can feel your frustration and how I wished to be of further help to you.

Skin lightening products can only temporarily help topically or cosmetically. Tinea versicolor can recur because of fungus and when it does, hyperpigmentation will always cause uneven skin color. You can try a mild skin lightening soap, Diana Stalder Black Soap to exfoliate and lighten the affected pigmented area. However, it cannot control the recurrence of hyperpigmentation. To the least, it can lessen the unsightly marks. But don't forget to also treat the fungus regularly to minimize hyperpigmentation attacks.

To treat tinea versicolor properly, I'm sure you'll find the right antifungal cream that will suit your skin type best. You just have to keep on trying one cure at a time until you get it right.

Hope my 2 cents gave you a better idea.

Maria
