sunscreen as a whitening product

by Mohera
(Mauritius)

Hello Maria, I have olive skin type. On tuesday I went for an outdoor activities without using my sunscreen. On coming home I took a shower when I noticed my skin color has turned darker. It has been 3 days now, my skin is still darker and burns a lot. I am using my sunscreen in order to get my natural skin color back. Will this help me, and if not can you suggest some tips from which I can get my natural skin color back. Thank You, Mohera.

Answer:

Hi Mohera, sunscreen only controls (not prevent) sun damage and skin darkening, but cannot lighten skin. Sunscreen cannot totally block sun damage, no matter how high your SPF is.

Usually, a natural sun tan fades away very slowly in months, or years. You can wait for a few months to see how your type of skin will show signs of darkened skin fading away. If it does, then you may not need skin lighteners at all.

Otherwise, the skin whitening solutions on this site may be your answer. As a good starting point, you can check out Diana Stalder Skin Whitening Products page and read the "Quick Product Guide" to see what suits your skin type.

Maria
