Retin-a with Glutathione soap?

by Anonymous

Is it ok to apply retin-A gel when using the glutathione whitening soap?

Answer:

No, Retin-A is an exfoliating product which can induce skin peeling, just as our skin whitening products can. Might irritate your skin. Some of the products already has retinol in it.

Retin-a? #2
by: Dianne

Hi Maria,
Thanks for answering so quickly.

I have been using retin-a to treat my acne. My face has improved remarkably and I have minimal acne left. Should I postpone using the glutathione whitening soap until my face is clearer? I want to whiten my skin, but want clear skin first! What does glutathione do for the treatment of acne/blemishes? Do you think it would be ok to use the soap once a week? What regimen do you recommend?

Thanks in advance.

Answer:

Nice to meet you , Dianne. You're right, if you feel you still need your Retin-A to clear your acne, go ahead and do so. After that treatment, and you have dark acne spots left, rest your skin from Retin-A for 2 weeks before starting the skin lightening regimen. This is one option.

Another alternative is to continue with your Retin-A plus use of the Glutathione soap 1-2x a week. Glutathione soap can help control your acne too, because of the peeling process. Since this will be a 1-2x a week use, its effect is minimal but to some level, can aid in the whitening process too. You can increase the use of the soap to 3x a week if you feel your skin can allow the stinging or redness as its normal side effects.

Hope you find that helpful. :-)

Maria
