Red Acne Marks On Cheeks

by Lily
(England)

Hello Maria! Basically I had mild acne on my forehead and cheeks. Thankfully I got rid of the acne/spots and now my forehead looks completely good. My cheeks would too if there weren't loads of red little mark/spots left. I have a cluster of them on right cheek and on my left as well.

I dont understand why I didn't get any on my forehead, but I did on my cheeks.

At the minute I'm trying everything to get these horrible red marks gone. I use toothpaste for about ten minutes every night before bed and then I wash it off and apply some sudocrem for overnight use. I dont find that these marks are going down. I'm almost 99% sure theyre not actual spots, my cheeks feels smooth.

Basically I don't have many spots but I look like I have acne on both cheeks due to these red marks. They are so annoying and getting me down, I really want them to fade. They have been there for about 2 and a half months now, they don't seem to be going. My skin is quite a fair white colour. Please, any help?

Answer:

Hi Lily, Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation is another term for these red spots caused by acne, where skin lighteners may or may not help get rid of.

The skin whitening process are formulated to lighten dark spots on skin, which are already healed and dry. Red acne spots may still manifest some soreness underneath skin. Most dermatologists prescribe retinoids like Retin-A or Differin.

However, sine you mentioned these are almost 3 months old, we can assume that they've healed already, but I can only suggest a mild skin lightening soap for you to try - Diana Stalder Black Soap. Use this as your daily facial soap and see how it goes. :)

Maria
