Problem area for my young teen

by Lisa
(Ohio, USA)

My daughter is 14 years old and her neck is darker than the rest of her body. It is noticeably darker and I would like for her to have an even tone. It is not a birth mark, it is a kind of discoloration. We talked to the doctor and nothing is wrong medically. Can she use the skin whitening lotion on her neck to lighten it up? I have the skin whitening lotion and would like to know if she can use her own beauty products (noxzema), but add the skin whitening on her neck to get the color the same as her face and the rest of her body.

Thank you,

Answer:

Hi Lisa, if your teen is using noxzema to treat skin irritation, she can't use the skin whitening lotion because it will induce mild skin peeling to remove the unwanted dark skin layer or spot.

Otherwise, if the noxzema is just for cleansing purposes, try a 2-3x application per week to gradually fade or remove the discoloration. Her skin is young so any drastic application won't do good.
