Post folliculitis hyperpigmentation

by Ranjith
(India )

Hi Maria , I'm 20 years old, male with wheatish complexion from India , wen I was 16 I did a terrible mistake by shaving in the opposite direction , it caused folliculitis , I tuk antibiotics ,then it recovered in a week (folliculitis was in the neck region) , then wen it disappeared it caused mild hyperpigmentation,

now even if I shave completely it looks as if that part of neck wasn't shaved properly (thank god hyperpigmentation isn't so severe) , what can I do to get rid of that ? I'm really sorry for bothering u !

Answer:

Hi Ranjith, it's perfectly alright to come forward and ask questions. We are always glad to help. :)

The hyperpigmentation you see are mostly dark scars from the inflammation you had before. It might help if you use this suggestion -

Dermaline DE Black Soap and Whitening Lotion

It can gently exfoliate, mildly peel off and lighten the dark skin layer on your neck. It is also important to remember that you have to wear sunscreen during and after the skin lightening process. :)

Thank you for the reply! I bought the glutathione soap! i hope it works fast! I'm going to Vegas next weekend, I know I will still have the hyperpigmentation :( I can't wear shorts or dresses..Do you know any makeup i can use to cover up the hyperpigmentation? The darkness is pretty big on both legs..

Answer:

Hi Lesley, one concealer I know that's perfect for skin imperfections is Dermablend. Try it. :)

also suffering from post folliculitis hyperpigmentation
by: Lesley

Hi! I too had folliculitis on my legs just last month because of shaving and now it's healed but of course left my skin dark! :( I was wondering if the glutathione really worked? Right now, I'm using *edited* lightening cream (hydroquinone 2%). what i also observed, my hyperpigmented skin would turn even darker when I'm in the shower but would get lighter after and even under the sun. What does this mean?

Hope you guys can reply asap! thanks :)

Answer:

Hi Lesley, the 'ashy' color while using skin whitening creams is part of the skin lightening process. You may experience dryness (causing the 'darkness') prior to mild peeling to exfoliate the dark skin spots. This process takes place in 3-6 weeks depending on your skin sensitivity.

If you are bathing with hot water, that can affect exfoliating fresh skin and can darken skin. Try to shower in cooler temperature if you can. Our skin loves the cooler moisture as it hydrates it better.

Be careful when under the sun, wear sunscreen when outdoors at daytime, otherwise your skin lightening effort would be futile and skin can darken if unprotected from the sun.

Hope that gives you a better idea. :)

Hi Maria , I've been using DS glutathione soap for almost two weeks ! I can definitely tell u that it's working !

The scar I mentioned above has started fading (15-20%) ! I happy wit that ! But it stings like hell whenever I lather up on neck ! And the rest of my body r peeling ! I could c small white flakes of skin (like dandruff) peeling off !

Is that the way it peels ? My face burns a little bit but it didn't start to peel ! I'll keep u posted , I stopped retin a as u suggested !
Regards

Answer:

Hi Ranjith, if it stings uncomfortably, it's a sign that you have to REDUCE usage only according to your comfort level. If daily use burns, lessen to 2-3x a week only. Moisturize flaking skin if necessary. Most skin types peel mildly, others shed a lot. It depends on one's skin sensitivity.

I'm happy you're doing well! I'll be here watching you too. :)

Hi maria , i got my ds glutathione soap !! Im using it since 2 days ! I can definitely tell u dat it stings and causes dryness !! Im using my moisturizer to get rid of dryness and the stingy sensation !!

Im also using retin A for the hyperpigmented areas i mentioned above!! Would u like to suggest me anything ?? Am i doing things correctly ??!! And i didnt forget wat u said ,im using MELAGARD spf 50+ sunscreen for d areas exposed outside , im wearing fullhand garments and im not exposed to sun much !
Regards

Answer:

Hi Ranjith, you're doing fine but skip the Retin-A because this can irritate skin when used with other exfoliating products. Your skin can burn and get irritated in the process. Focus on your Glutathione soap for now alone. This soap can help with the pigmented areas as well, so no need for the Retin-A for now.

Remember, use once a day, review the instruction sheet and you'll be on your goal in no time.

Thank u very much !! But the pigmentation was already there for 2 years , is it possible to lighten it ?

Answer:

Yes Ranjith, it is possible. But remember, results will not always visible for any skin lightening product you try. It has to work well with your skin type as well. It's a trial and error thing just like any other skin product.
