not safe to use

by mary
(philippines)

I am a breastfeeding mom. i have recently read your response here that whitening product is not recommended for pregnant and breastfeeding moms. i believe the pills do harm but how come the topical whitening products? are you only referring to D.S. products or in all or any whitening products elsewhere? please enlighten me coz i am also looking for safe whitening product. thanks!

Answer:

Hi Mary, topical skin whitening soaps, lotions and creams, any brand for that matter, are exfoliating products that are acid-based. These penetrate skin and is not good when a woman has a developing fetus or produces milk for nursing.

Besides, skin lightening induces skin peeling, which is bot a good match when skin is epanding during pregnancy.

Maria
