Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch Sunblock

by Debbie
(Maryland)

Hello everyone, I just started my skin lightening with the CB pills and the Diana Stalder Black soap. After reading about the importance of sunblock, I went out last night and bought the above mentioned sunblock. The texture feels great, but when I compared the ingredient list to the ingredients that have been banned in Europe, it appears to contain some of the potentially harmful ingredients.

The active ingredients are: Avobenzone 3%, Homosalate 10%, Octisalate 5%, Octocrylene 2.8%, Oxybenzone 6%. It also contains Butyloctyl Salicylate as one of the inactive ingredients. (Some of the ingredients supposedly mimic estrogen and can cause health problems.)

Is there another sunblock by Neutrogena w/o those questionable ingredients, that's also non-comedogenic? Or another sunblock by another company that's effective and non-comedogenic?

Thank you.

Answer:

Hi Debbie, Neutrogena is a popular reliable brand when it comes to sunscreen. Medical research has come up with harmful ingredients lately, and only become harmful when they are used excessively. Remember, anything in excess is harmful. Even water.

I'm sure the inactive ingredients are necessary in cosmetic products as long as these are formulated in minimal doses, and Neutrogena's research and development still values customer safety as a priority.

That is my personal opinion. If you're not comfortable with Neutrogena, feel free to try other brands, such as Banana Boat, Aveeno, Anthelios (regarded as best sunscreen), etc.

I use Neutrogena myself. :)

Maria
