MySkin burns...

Hi Maria, Is it normal to have several red patches on my face resulting from using "dermaline whitening cream"? It burns, and is the red patches permanent??? Everytime I wash it, with the mildest soap, which is the Pink Licorice, it stings my face...Do I use it every other day, and when will the peeling stop? It has been peeling for several days now...ouch, it hurts... btw, i'm 21(and is the dermaline whitening cream appropriate for my young face?) just a thought..
thanks maria:)
Answer:
Hi Peter, skin lightening should not be a discomfort for the user. Although stinging, burning, itching, and skin peeling are all normal, it should be within one's comfort level.
Red patches are also normal but you should significantly reduce the use of the skin lighteners. Red patches are fresh resurfacing skin and will hurt if washed with even the mildest soap.
After skin has started to peel, you should have reduced the application of the cream to every other day or 2x a week for your young skin. This will avoid too much peeling that can result to too many red patches.
What you should do now is this -
1. Stop the whitening cream until the stinging subsides, or after 7-10 days and resume application thereafter 2x a week.
2. Skip the licorice soap for 2 days to allow skin to heal. Then continue use daily.
The red patches will heal, but might become a bit darker but don't worry, can be taken care of the licorice soap or whitening cream soon.
Don't forget to wear at least SPF 45 sunscreen when outdoors between 8am-5pm.
And you'll be fine. :)
