hi maria..i started getting these brown spots on my cheeks,i got a lil one on one cheek first.i didnt realise it until much later that they were skin discolorations.im asian, fair skinned n now these marks have become rather ugly n on both cheeks.i went to many dermatologists, paid thru my nose for obagi but didnt work.im 35 n not on pills or pregnant ever so i think must b the sun or sumthing.

Please tell me wat to do n how the hell can i get rid of them.im sooo bothered w them cos i have to wear makeup n conceal them.

Answer:

Hi SK, fraxel is laser treatment of age-related problems, and this includes age spots or melasma. If it works well for you, you shouldn't have the negative side effect of laser which is scarring. For some, this has resulted to worsening their pigmentation.

From what you described, your dark facial spots can be freckles, melasma (if you're taking birth control pills), age or sun spots. Regardless, all these can be worsened by frequent sun exposure of unprotected skin (without sunscreen).

We have prepared a page for both Age spots solutions and How to treat melasma. I hope this can help you in some way. :)

Maria
