Melasma and Pitted Acne Scars

by Andrea
(New Zealand)

Hi Maria, I have suffered with Melasma and Acne scarring -3 years now. Started with the onset of menopause, so hormonal.

I have an olive skin tone. The melasma is on cheeks, nose, chin and upper lip and is not epidermal but dermal, so more difficult to treat.

Acne has stopped as I have been on several courses of accutane (mild doseage). I have tried hydroquinone, glycolic acid creams, and microdermabrasion, but these seem to have exacerbated the melasma.

I also use a good sunblock everyday and try to avoid the sun as much as possible. Though acne has not come back, I am still left with pitted acne scarring. My dermatoligist tells me the dark patches (melasma) are permanent. That was very discouraging.

I have read your information on Claire Blanche Whitening Pills (sounds really impressive), as well as your answers to many of the questions asked.

Would like to know whether L-Glutathione Whitening Pills would help me along with any other product you can suggest that I could try?

I would like to have a lighter complexion overall anyway. I'm not giving up hope and continue searching for the solution to this horrible, disfiguring condition!!

Please can you help??

Answer:

Hi Andrea, sorry to keep you waiting for this answer. Our Help Line temporarily experienced some technical glitches.

Ok let's talk about what you're going through. :)

True, melasma is hormonal and is difficult to get rid of, but you can at least lighten it. While acne scarring can be epidermal, skin lightening can remove the discoloration, but only improve the scars, and not toally eliminate them.

If you noticed, we have two separate kits for melasma and acne scars (under "Skin Whitening Kits"). The only difference is the cream - "Whitening" for melasma (with antiaging, less potent) and "Lightening" (without antiaging, more potent) for acne scars.

You can choose the "Acne Scar Lightening Kit" to serve both purpose, and simply include your own favorite antiaging cream in your regimen.

Regarding the whitening pills these work differently because they're taken internally. Just like other vitamins or supplements, it takes time to build its foundation in your system. Remember, skin lightening is only a side effect of the pills, because its main function is the antioxidant benefit (glutathione is the antioxidant in the pill).

Bottom line? There is no guarantee for both solutions. Unless you try either or both of them, you wouldn't know how it will work for you. So don't be afraid to do it, because all we are endorsing here are safe skin whitening products. And I really hope it will put a smile on your 'flawless' (or close to flawless) face very soon. :)

Maria
