Lightening Skin Care in Latin America

Latin Americans have different skin tones, from light olive to deep caramel. Skin is oily, thicker, with enlarged pores. Their skin type rarely burns but tans easily.

Because of this vulnerability to the sun, Latin Americans have the highest incidence of dark or brown spots on skin that lead to melanoma or skin cancer, so too much sun exposure should be avoided, and sun protection is a MUST.

We have discussed that melanin is supposed to somehow protect the skin from the UV rays, but Latin American skin is sensitive to UV radiation.

The oiliness of skin contributes to clogging of pores that causes acne and blemishes eventually turning into bad scarring and hyperpigmentation. This identifies the need for skin whitening treatments to fade or remove the discoloration.
