Kidneys?
by Jordan
Hello Maria, my name is Jordan and I was interesting in lightening my skin with the L-Glutamine pills from my local GNC with the Vitamin C. The L-Glutamine they sell is in 1000 mg capsules. On your page, you stated that you should take it with the Vitamin C equal to, or double the dosage of the Glutamine.
I only have one kidney, and I have to be careful what I put in my body, because I can't just filter things out like other people. I was doing some research on Vitamin C overdoses, just be sure, and like any other vitamins, what isn't used is filtered from the body. Since the daily recommendation is far less than 1000 mg, I was wondering if I could still see results with the pills if I used a slightly lower dose of Vitamin C, at least at first.
Would that be possible, or would it be unaffective?
Thanks for your time,
-Jordan
Answer:
Hi Jordan, I am not in a medical position to advise how any dietary supplement can work for you, especially that you have a special condition. You can ask your doctor if you can take glutathione and vitamin C pills of 2000mg each. If it's a go, then feel free to do so.
However, the problem with over the counter glutathione pills is, it only contains glutathione. If skin lightening is your goal, there is also a need to supplement with alpha lipoic acid, rosehips and grapeseed extract. You might end up taking 3-4 vitamins in one intake, and you should do that 2x a day. These combination complement each other's effects to boost that skin lightening effect. Glutathione pills plus Vitamin C alone may have delayed effects, but it can also work.
