Hyperpigmentation, Dark Upper Lip and Mouth Area

by Anu
(VA, USA)

Hi Maria, I have a 12 year old girl and I am looking for a 'lightening' cream for her. She has dark spots on her face especially around the mouth area. I took her to the dermatologist and he gave her a prescription for 'Triluma' which is a lightening cream.

Before I fill the prescription, I wanted to search the internet and see if there are any 'natural' lightening/whitening products. I came across your products and wanted to see if your line of products are SAFE to use on my 12 year old?

If it is safe, can you please name what she can use? Your reply is much appreciated. We belong to the Asian ethnicity - Indian origin.

Also, I want to know what skin whitening products can be used for her for dark knees, elbows, neck area and underarms.

Thanks,
Anu

Answer:

Hi Anu, I don't usually recommend skin whitening products for young kids, especially a 12-yr old. Why? Because skin lightening will involve skin peeling, with dryness and itchiness as part of the process, and they might forget NOT to scratch it otherwise it can make the discoloration worse.

But since your doctor prescribed a lightening cream, I can recommend Diana Stalder Lightening Cream but use only every other day for her.

You can also try using the cream on her dark knees and elbows, but NOT for neck and underarms yet because these are thinner and sensitive areas. You can mix bath oil and lemon and apply on these areas and it might work too. The oil can alleviate any itch or dryness.

I know you'd be there for her to guide her along the way. :)

Maria
