How will your skin lightening products Interact with my Acne products?

by Jimmy
(Illinois)

Hello all, as you can see I have darkened skin. You can kinda notice my real skin color on my chest.

I've been struggling with my acne for years now. And it seems like I've actually found something that works and is helping it. The bumps are almost completely gone but unfortunately my skin is MUCH darker than from before I got acne. I would like to stay on my acne medication but I want to start the lightening process.

The products I current use are
1.)Benzoyl Peroxide Wash(10% benzoyl peroxide)
2.)Daily after I wash then Acanya gel(Major Ingredients: 2.5% Benzoyl peroxide, 1.2% Clindamycin)
3.)At night after I wash i use Tazorac(Major Ingredient: .1% Tazarotene
4.) I also take an antibacterial/anti-inflammatory pill called Monodox daily

-Will your products interfere with any of these medications and make my acne come back?

-Please recommend some product(s)

P.S. If you seriously know it won't work and will make my skin worse please don't suggest anything. I've dealt with many dermatologists who just push sales on me. PLEASE HELP my skin get better.

Answer:

Hi Jimmy, firstly, sorry for deleting your photo because we'd like to protect your privacy.

Acne treatments are mostly exfoliating products, especially with benzoyl peroxide. For this reason, there is a good chance that it can irritate skin if used TOGETHER with skin lightening products (which are exfoliating treatments as well).

It is recommended that you only use either one of them. Here's what you can do.

If you are still treating moderate to severe acne, you may have to concentrate on that at this time. After the acne scars have healed, dried up, and been controlled, then you can probably start the skin lightening process to target those pigmentations.

A good recommendation is the Acne Scars Lightening Kit.

One good thing in skin lightening products is the ability to control acne too. You see, skin lightening involves a mild peeling process that removes the dead skin cells, dark spots, and excess oils, thus minimizing clogged oils and dirt that cause blemishes.

For clarification, acne control during skin lightening comes as a beneficial side effect, and not as a solution.

However, this is not always a guarantee. Good results don't come a 100% in skin products. I'm sure you've been through that already. We can only guarantee the potency of our skin whiteners to give you a better chance to achieve your desired goal. But still, your own results will depend on your skin type and sensitivity.

You know your skin best. Start whenever you're ready. :)

Maria
