have black patches on my skin after a major surgery

by ezey
(usa)

hi, about 10 month ago i have a major surgery done a week after i started to have some black patches on my stomach and now its growing toward my neck. can you please let me know what it is and how i can get rid of it. please help this is very hurtfull, i never was one to be one who worried to much about my look, but sometimes i don't want to come out of my house. please help.

Answer:

Hi Ezey, if there's one person who can help you best, it is your doctor who performed your surgery. Although dark patches on skin is kinda normal after a surgery because scars are indeed natural healing of skin (which can become dark), but having them extend beyond the area of surgery is something not quite normal. Pls see your doctor.

Take care,
Maria
