Face and Neck getting darker and darker

Hello, my mom is 56 years old and the lower half of her face is starting to get much darker, and it is now spreading to her neck. She has seen a dermatologist a few times and he has told her to use several different skin whitening creams, yet nothing seems to be working. Instead it's getting worse and spreading.

Does she just continue to try and use different creams or should she be getting some blood tests done to rule out any other causes? If she requires blood work, shouldn't the dermatologist recommend this instead of just recommending a skin whitening cream??

Hi Farhan, if your mom is either overweight or diabetic, it might be triggering the discoloration problem due to some disorder. Otherwise, I guess your dermatologist, who should know best, is right. And it is simply a dark pigmentation due to accumulated sun exposure over the years.

Your doctor also knows that skin lightening, just like any other skin product, is a trial and error process. So I hope that our skin whitening products are your last stop.

When you start using skin lighteners, skin becomes sun sensitive and if left unprotected, can worsen the problem. Maybe, lack of sunscreen is what darkened the problem area more.
