Whitening Results Longevity
by: Anonymous

Dear Maria,

But if you were genetically born with a certain skin tone then can your whitening results still last couple of months if you protect yourself from the sun?

Thanks
Kind Regards
Gazelle

Answer:

It may, Gazelle. As the end of the 2nd month nears, your original skin tone will come back. Still, your own skin sensitivity will determine how soon or long it will hold the lightened effect.

How long does it take for skin darken
by: Anonymous

Dear Maria,

So can I please ask how long does it take for skin to darken if it goes without any lightening treatment?

Thanks
Gazelle

Answer:

Hi Gazelle, that wll depend on how much sun exposure you get, and on the same factors that caused the skin to darken in the first place. If you can avoid these, you can maintain the lightened area for a longer time. I would say, a couple of months or more.

Resting Period
by: Gazelle

Dear Maria,

Won't my facial skin darken (to its former tone) in 2-3weeks resting period?

Thanks
Gazelle

Answer:

Not if you expose it to the sun. Apply sunscreen for the best protection.

Facial Hair Removal Methods
by: Anonymous

Dear Maria,

I am not very confident about using hair removal creams as I believe the contain chemicals that might react with my skin and also might conflict with ingredients and the effectiveness of my lightening products.

In the past, before lightening, I used to use facial cream bleach. And I don't use the bleach (i.e. the chemicals) anymore for the same reason I am afraid of using the hair removal cream.

Do I have any other options?

I have contemplated laser hair removal on the face, but because lightening exfoliates the skin, I am concerned that the laser might damage the skin. Do you have any thoughts on this.

Thank you
Warm Regards
Gazelle

Answer:

Hi Gazelle, you can opt for laser hair removal if you rest your skin from the whitening products for 2-3 weeks. After the laser procedure, ask your doctor when you can resume using exfoliating products which will mean it's also a go for the skin lightening process.

Skin Regime post-waxing
by: Anonymous

Dear Maria,

Thanks for relieving my fears...phew! :)

The soreness from threading has worn off after 1.5 days. I only read your response today, so I have unfortunately continued using my facial cream even though the skin was sore. However, I did not use the exfoliating cleanser and the toner. The cream was not irritating to the skin thankfully.

My skin is feeling much better today. I am thinking that I should not use exfoliating cleanser (that is recommended for daily use normally and toner for a week and just use a gentle soy milk base cleanser for rest of the week. Does that sound like a good idea?

Also I am now in a bit of a dilemma as to what form of facial hair removal method I should use as waxing and threading are no good and shaving is not an option for me. Is their any other method that you can recommend please?

I digress a little bit but can I please have your opinion on if natural fabrics like silk and cotton are better during the lightening process then synthetic fabrics?

Thanks heaps
Gazelle

Answer:

Hi Gazelle, the soy milk base cleanser sounds fine.

You can use a hair removal cream for facial hair. If you do this at daytime, use your skin lighteners at night time.

As for the fabric, any loose clothing that avoids skin friction is ok during the skin lightening process.

Facial waxing
by: Anonymous

Dear Maria,

I actually have been waxing for a while now (i.e. since Feb)and only recently stopped and tried threading instead (i.e. yesterday). And from my experience I would NOT recommend threading as it really does hurt afterwards and the skin got scratched in some of the trickier areas part of the face.

I am really worried Maria, about the damage I might have caused from 3 months of waxing (with 2 week intervals) and the threading yesterday :(

Can you please advise as to what I can expect in terms of the damage I have caused myself and how to get myself back on track.

PS Its times like these that I am really grateful that I have you as my sounding board. Thank you so very much :)

Warm Regards
Gazelle

Answer:

Hi Gazelle, my pleasure to help. :)

Skin damage caused by waxing or threading during the skin lightening process is reversible (so don't worry) but of course, can take a few weeks. It is only skin trauma, and concentrated on the topmost layer of skin, not beyond the epidermis.

Let the skin heal until the soreness, redness fade away and skin becomes dry, healed, and brownnish/grayish in color. Thereafter, you can resume the skin lightening regimen.

Facial waxing
by: Anonymous

Dear Maria,

I just read your responses to someone's question about waxing and I am worried as I wax my face, and I have noticed that its lightness has reduced somewhat.

I will stop waxing of course (and might use threading instead). But as far as the damaage done so far. Is is reversible?

Thanks
Gazelle

Answer:

Yes, Gazelle. The pigmentation will fade away soon. Let it heal first if it is still sore or red, before you use any skin lightening cream on it.

Clothing to avoid friction
by: Anonymous

Dear Maria,

I have been reading some of the advice you have been giving others about wearing loose-fit clothing during the whitening process. I tend to wear tights to the gym (as I am a gym-junkie :)). And my questions are:

1. Is skin-tight clothing ok as it doesn't tend to move and consequently should result in minimal friction.
2. What clothing do you recommend? Eg. Long flowing skirts, loose-fit pants etc.

PS Also I have noticed the areas where my bra sits do not lighten to match the surrounding areas. Any ideas on how to avoid this.

Thanks
Gazelle

Answe:

Hi Gazelle, tight cloths, though hugging and seemingly will not cause friction, DOES cause friction. It bends as your skin bends, and this motion forces itself to the skin. Most of the time, it causes stretch marks and skin cracks.

Any loose clothing or underwear can help hasten the results.

For the bra area, apply the whitening cream at bedtime, when skin is immobile and at rest.

Do different parts of body lighten differently
by: Anonymous

Dear Maria,

Thanks for your response :)

Are the areas that I am having trouble whitening to same level as the other areas (eg. arms, legs, hands and feet are very light) the common areas for this issue or is this issue unique to myself.

Also is it possible that with continual use my skin has become immune to the product. In which case, are you able to suggest a way to overcome this.

Also, initially when I started the lightening regime many months ago, I used to warm a 100% cotton bath robe in the dryer and put it on immediately after my nightly application product. However, I don't do this anymore. Is this a good idea? Also does warmer weather help absorption of the product into the skin?

Thanks
Gazelle

Answer:

Hi Gazelle, as I mentioned in your other post, you have your own unique results. Skin immunity can also be experienced after you have been using your products for several months. To overcome this, rest the skin for 2 weeks without these products before resuming the regimen. This way, the skin might respond anew to the active ingredients of the whitening product.

I'm not sure how your product works well with a warmed cloth after application of the cream. I cannot suggest further if this is recommended in the directions indicated on the package of your skin whitening product.
