Discoloration after cheilitis

by Rachel

Hello ! I recently am recovering from cheilitis while i was on accutane. My cheilitis doesn't come anymore BUT the corners of my lips are black and my lipline is not normal.
I was wondering if any of these skin lightening product will work for lipline discoloration.
THANK YOU

Rachel

Answer:

Hi Rachel, the lip line is a thin and sensitive area. Cheilitis is manifested by dryness and cracking of the corners of the lips, which is also synonymous to skin dryness.

On a personal note (please do not take it as a medical recommendation), skin lighteners may not be a good idea because it could induce more dryness because peeling is part of the skin lightening process. It might trigger the same problem again.

Moisturization is the key to keeping skin from discoloration caused by cheilitis. It might take a while but it should fade away in time.

Take care,
Maria
