dark skin on lower leg

by Mike
(ga, usa)

I am 50 years old and have coached baseball for many years. With this said I have taken many baseballs off my ankles to lower legs. Over the past several years I have noticed a browning of my leg that has moved upward over time to cover my ankle up to the middle of the lower leg. Should I go see a doctor or is this just a discoloration from the injuries.

Answer:

Hi Mike, those are blood clots from the bruises or injuries. The discoloration is beyond skin deep and should be consulted with a doctor if it's bothering you, especially if it manifests some form of pain.

Skin lighteners can only treat topical dark spots on skin. Although it can help reduce the discoloration, the darkened skin will not be totally eliminated.

Hope that gives you a better idea.

MAria
