Dark blemishes

Hi Maria, I am a dark skinned African American woman. I LOVE my dark complexion and do NOT want to change it for any reason. However I DO want to change the dark blemishes on my face from occasional acne breakouts. I don't have bad acne but I do get random pustules at times. When these heal they leave dark/black spots. I just want to get rid of those. I've read a lot about skin lighteners but they all seem to be geared toward lightening the entire complexion which concerns me. Is there anything that will ONLY lighten the spots and leave my dark skin color intact? Thanks for the help.

Hi MM, skin lighteners are formulated to lighten the area where it is applied to - whether these are targeted dark spots or general areas of skin.

If your dark acne spots are pretty small, you may have to apply the skin lightening product all over the affected area. It may also lighten the surrounding area, but after the dark spots are gone and you stop using the product, your original skin tone will come back, minus the dark spots.

On the other hand, if these are dark spots that you can comfortably spot treat with a skin lightening cream, that can also be done.
