Clairsonic Facial Brush (with skin lightening)?

by Channel
(New York)

I have a Clairsonic Facial Brush. It's by the makers of the Sonic Toothbrush. I will like to order your products, but after reading 95% of your website it seems that I will not be able to use the brush if I am using your soap. If that is the case, will I ever be able to use the brush? or Will I be able to use the brush after I have finished peeling? In the past two months {July and August, 2008} I did a peel with this product, name US Culture Skin. This skin peel is great, but there is a down side to this peel and that is you will have to stay in for a week or longer. As you have written on your site, each person's skin is different, so if you use this peel which is great and if you have the time {like one or two weeks, to stay in}, then it will do wonders. The best one to use is the 4000, which will make you peel even more than the others.

Anyway, Ms. Maria I love my brush. I will like to know if I will be able to use my brush with your products, meaning the soaps or will I be able to use my brush if I just use your cream?

Thank You in Advance,

Channel

Answer:

Yes Channel, you can still use your favorite brush AFTER your skin has lightened. You have to rest your skin first for at least a month before you can resume the use of the brush.

Skin lightening involves skin peeling which makes resurfaced skin so fresh and sensitive that further scrubbing or brushing can make it sore and irritated, whether it's from any facial peel or skin lightening. I'm sure you wouldn't want that. Double exfoliation or peeling will not do any good. Just one at a time.

If the cause of darkening is skin trauma (scratching, mosquito bites, slight burn, minor sun tanning), the skin lightening results can be long term. But if the cause is hormonal (freckles, melasma, acne scars), you may also need maintenance to keep further pigmentation at a minimum because daily sun exposure is the no.1 factor to worsen the problem.

Either case, this is what I suggest when you're in the maintenance stage already (after you're reached your desired lightening results)-

1. Wear daily sunscreen to prevent further skin darkening and apply your favorite moisturizers to keep skin hydrated. Do this for one month.
2. Use your brush to exfoliate the accumulated dead skin cells, excess dirt and oils.
3. Continue doing no.1 and use your favorite Clairsonic brush in your own usual regimen.
4. You can use the whitening soap or cream once every 1 or 2 weeks as necessary, at least 2-3 days after you used the brush.

If I have a favorite skin product too, it'll be hard to give it up so I understand. The suggestions above should be adjusted according to your unique skin sensitivity.

Because you know your skin best. :-)

Maria
