after whitening products

by monica
(ca)

Hi maria ,thank you for getting back to my first question so fast. although i do have a few more questions for you......
(1)after using the whitening/lightening products for hyperpigmentation, is the treated skin more likely to get the dark spots again if exposed to the sun in the future, than before i used the products?
(2)i have a few white spots scattered on my face as well(hypopigmentation) will the products lighten those spots as well? I dont want them to get lighter......Thanks, monica- CA

Answer:

Hi Monica, you're welcome. :) Now let's get to your other questions -

1. Yes, peeling/fresh skin during the skin lightening process is sun sensitive and it is possible to make skin darker than before. So during the peeling stage, avoid as much sun as possible and wear sunscreen. But if you're in the maintenance stage already, it's not that risky anymore. Nevertheless, sunscreen is always a must. Anyways, sun protection is recommended whether you're in a skin lightening regimen or not.

2. Lighter skin will respond less than darker spots when skin lightening products are used. It's because the lighter areas have less melanin content.

Maria :)
